The governing body of the Arab Cultural Center awarded an “Honorary Membership” to the Jordanian-Canadian artist Tariq Harb in recognition of his musical creativity and technical position regionally and internationally.
Harb himself a winner of the First Prize and the People’s Choice Award in the Barrios WorldWideWeb Competition in Paraguay. Moreover, Harb is a First Prize winner in the Montreal International Classical Guitar Competition, and is considered one of the most important classical guitarists of his generation.
Harb has made presentations on the guitar in music festivals in many countries, including countries in North America, Europe, the Middle East and South America which are punctuated by performances in prestigious halls, such as the Hall of Oscar Peterson in Montreal, Canada, in the world-famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and in the Bunka Kaikan concert hall in Tokyo, Japan among others. After moving from Jordan to Canada, he played the “Concerto de Aranjuez” with the Amman Symphony Orchestra in the Jerash Festival, Jordan in 2012.
Harb studied both the violin and classical guitar, taking part in many specialized courses and masterclasses, and holds a master’s degree in classical guitar performance from McGill University, and had earned a bachelor’s degree previous to that from Concordia University in violin performance.
